I am a 26-year-old Accounting Sciences graduate from the small town of Giyani,
currently completing my Postgraduate Diploma in Tax via the University of South
Africa. I would say the three words that describe me are aesthete, talkative and
driven, and this shows in my day to day living, both personal and professional.
Work Experience
*I have done quite a number of paying and non-paying jobs. My working career
starts off as a volunteer at the local old age home, where I spent about 5 months
helping with the cleaning, cooking and administering medication to the elderly
(under the supervision of a qualified nurse). I later went on to work in Customer
Service, as a floor representative and a salesperson at South Point, during my
stay there, and worked as part of the security personnel for an event at one of
the establishments during my stay in Braamfontein. Lastly, I have worked in
admin as a deputy secretary in a student organization called Khomanani
Student’s Society, at Wits.
Why Degree in Finance/Commerce
Growing up in a small town meant getting to see the variety in life and how
money is made. You either work in the public sector, in retail or attempt to make a
living through entrepreneurial means. This made me realize the potential in
entrepreneurial growth in some, with the only thing standing in the way of that
success being the lack of financial knowledge. This drove me to complete my
degree in Accounting Sciences and make the decision to do my Postgrad in Tax,
with the hopes of working in an environment where I am able to facilitate some
growth in financial literacy in previously disenfranchised communities.
Internship
I applied for SAIPA articles and was contacted about an internship opportunity . I
accepted the invite to attend interviews, and was offered the job.
Company
I currently am placed with one of the leading companies in the utilities industry,
Remote Metering Solutions, where one gets to learn more about an industry I
never had the knowledge about.
