My name is Onkarabile Nchabeleng. I’m a 24-year-old aspiring communications professional with a deep passion for meaningful engagement and community development. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and am currently pursuing my Honours in the same field.
Work Experience
*While studying, I gained valuable work experience in various roles — from being a cashier at SPAR, to working as a sales representative, and teaching English as a foreign language online. These roles helped me build strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a strong work ethic. Balancing work and studies was challenging, but it shaped my character and taught me discipline and resilience.
Why Bachelor of Arts in Communication
From an early stage, I understood the importance of effective communication in shaping society, influencing perspectives, and building lasting relationships. That is what inspired me to pursue Communication Studies — not just as a qualification, but as a tool to empower myself and others.
Internship
I got my current opportunity through Intelleto, after applying via PNet. Today, I proudly work at Calgro M3, a property development company, within the Calgro Memorial Parks department. Calgro Memorial Parks develops dignified, secure, and serene burial spaces that offer families peace of mind. As a young person, I find this work incredibly fulfilling because it allows me to be part of a team that brings comfort to communities during some of their most vulnerable moments. It's a space where respect, compassion, and service come together — and being part of that, especially in a country where many communities still need access to dignified burial options, gives my work deeper meaning.
Company
Working in this environment has strengthened my communication skills even further and allowed me to contribute to something bigger than myself. It has also opened my eyes to the importance of legacy, planning, and how our roles in society — no matter how small they seem — can have a profound impact.
This is just the beginning of my journey, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited for what lies ahead.
