My name is Mthokozisi Pangwana a 23 year old graduate in Bcom Financial Accountancy, from the NORTH -WEST UNIVERSITY VAAL TRIANGLE CAMPUS. I am an aspiring Chartered Accountant and plan on furthering my studies, I strongly believe it will end in CA(SA).
Work Experience
*I have previously worked as an Education Assistant during the Covid-19 period in 2021, and I left the employment to pursue a qualification in Accounting, this internship serves as my first job in the corporate world.
Why Bcom Financial Accountancy
I chose Bcom FInancial Accounting because i enjoyed working with numbers and problem solving. More importantly, I was drawn to the critical role accounting plays in every business. It’s a field that offers both structural and strategic insight, and I knew it would open doors for me in a wide range of industries.
Internship
I secured my internship by actively applying through job portals and made sure my CV highlighted both my academic achievements and practical skills, and I tailored my cover letter to show a genuine interest in the company’s finance department. I believe the above made me stand out from other applicants as I applied for an internship through My Talent SA, which is a company that searched for and placed me in an Accounting firm called OUTEX CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS.
Company
I am currently working at SPAR RERTAIL GROUP, the SOUTHRAND DISTRIBUTION as a finance intern and I’ve had the chance to work on various tasks such as Supplier/ Creditor payments, payroll. And as of this month (AUGUST) we are headed towards financial year end and I will get to experience first hand how FINANCIAL STATEMENTS in the real world are compiled compared to what I learnt at school. It is a great company and I started at Retail level/ in-store and through my hard work that did not go unnoticed the executives from the head-office met with me and I have since been transferred to the head-office to finish off my internship here and get more exposure than I would in-store.
