My name is Lungile Mhlongo and I am proud to say that I am currently completing my internship at Intercare. My journey has been one of growth, perseverance, and consistency.
Work Experience
*Before my internship, I had no prior professional work experience, which at times made me feel uncertain about how I would break into the corporate world. I stayed committed, continued to improve my academic performance, and applied for opportunities with an open mind. When I learned about the internship opportunity at Intercare, I immediately saw it as a chance to gain practical financial experience while still using the skills I developed through my Internal Auditing studies. I applied, prepared thoroughly for the interview, and trusted my potential and that is how I secured my very first internship role.
Why Degree in Finance/Commerce
From an early age, I was drawn to understanding how organisations function behind the scenes. This curiosity eventually led me to pursue a degree in Internal Auditing. I chose this field because it combines analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of financial processes and these are skills I knew would open doors to a number of career paths. My goal has always been to contribute to a stronger, more transparent organisation, and Internal Auditing felt like the perfect foundation.
Internship
Working at Intercare has been an incredible experience. Intercare is a healthcare company known for its high standards, professionalism, and commitment to service. Being part of such an organisation has taught me the value of accuracy, time management, and teamwork. As an Intern, I’ve gained hands-on experience in financial administration, reconciliations, customer engagement, and overall debtors management. Every day has helped me build confidence and develop skills that I know will support my long-term career in finance and auditing.
