About Me
My name is Tumelo Baloyi, and I am a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong passion for learning and professional growth. I come from a background that taught me the value of perseverance, discipline, and consistency, and these values have shaped my academic and career journey.

Work Experience
*Before securing my current internship, I gained exposure through academic projects and entry-level work that strengthened my foundation in finance and accounting. Although my practical experience was limited at first, I was eager to learn and committed to applying the theoretical knowledge I gained during my studies in a real-world environment.

Why Diploma in Finance/Commerce
I chose to study Finance (BCom – General) because I have always been interested in how organisations manage money, make financial decisions, and remain financially sustainable. Finance plays a critical role in every organisation, and I was drawn to the structure, problem-solving, and accountability that come with the field.

Internship
I got my internship through a friend's referral, however my dedication, persistence, and the support of platforms like GWConnect, which bridge the gap between education and employment played a role for me to secure it. The application process taught me the importance of presenting myself professionally and believing in my potential, even when I did not yet have extensive experience.

Company
I am currently working for Rider Levett Bucknall as a Finance Intern, where I am gaining hands-on experience in core financial processes. My responsibilities include working on the procure-to-pay process, preparing aged accounts payable analyses, performing balance sheet reconciliations, importing and reconciling credit card transactions, preparing payment packs, capturing bank accounts, managing petty cash, and processing manual journals such as leave provisions. This exposure has significantly strengthened my understanding of financial operations and internal controls. I am grateful for the opportunity to grow professionally, build confidence, and develop practical skills in a supportive environment. This journey has shown me that with the right mindset, guidance, and hard work, it is possible to turn academic goals into real career achievements. I hope my story inspires other students to remain resilient, stay focused, and take full advantage of opportunities presented to them.
