My name is Ishmael Hlongwane. I am 21 years old, born and raised in Tembisa (Phomolong). I matriculated in 2022 at Phomolong secondary, there after I studied Bcom Accounting at the university of Johannesburg from 2023 - 2025.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share my journey with GW House Consult, which has been instrumental in launching my career in accounting.
Work Experience
*Before pursuing my studies, I gained practical work experience in the retail sector at a shop called Zamane Cosmetics and Grocery. This role gave me first hand insight into daily business operations, customer service, and the importance of keeping accurate records. I worked there every school holiday from 2022 till 2025.
Why Bcom Accounting
My passion for numbers was the primary driver for choosing to study Bcom Accounting. This interest was further inspired by my father, who owns a business. I wanted to gain the formal skills and knowledge to effectively assist him and contribute to the financial health and growth of his small shop.
Internship
My cousin, who had successfully secured an internship through Talent SA, shared an application link with me. I applied through the TalentSA platform, and this connection ultimately led me to my current position.
Company
I am now proud to be working at GW House Consult. I have learnt a lot in such a really short space and I excited to learn more than what I have learnt up to now. It’s a team work orientated environment and they allow me to learn, grow and contribute within the company.
