My name is Mokete Grace Manganye, I’m 26 years of age from Polokwane, Limpopo. I am the youngest girl in a family of eight siblings and the first girl in my family to go to university. Growing up, I was always eager to learn and determined to create a better future for myself and my family. My background taught me resilience, responsibility, and the importance of education.
Work Experience
*Before and during my studies, I gained work experience in retail, where I developed important skills such as customer service, teamwork, communication, and time management. This experience taught me professionalism, adaptability, and the value of hard work.
Why Degree in Finance/Commerce
After completing my matric, I decided to study Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting. I developed an interest in business and finance. I chose accounting because I wanted to understand how businesses operate, how financial decisions are made, and how I could contribute to helping organisations grow and succeed. I saw it as a qualification that would open many doors and equip me with valuable and practical skills.
Internship
I obtained my internship opportunity through WG House, an agency that assists graduates in finding workplace experience opportunities. Through their support and my determination to gain practical experience, I was placed at United National Breweries in Pretoria as my host company for the internship.
Company
During my internship at United National Breweries, I am gaining valuable hands-on experience in a professional environment. My responsibilities include compiling reports, working with data, analysing financial and operational information from different plants. This experience has helped me understand how financial information is used to support business operations. It has also helped me develop confidence, improve my technical skills, and understand the importance of accuracy and meeting deadlines in the workplace.
My journey has not always been easy, but it has been meaningful and rewarding. I am proud of how far I have come, from being a young girl in Polokwane with big dreams to becoming a graduate and now gaining real-world experience through my internship. This opportunity is helping me build a strong foundation for my future, and I am committed to continuing to learn, grow, and build a successful career.
