My name is Nokuphiwa Mbalenhle Mthembu and I’m from Pretoria. I studied Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Management Accounting in the University of Free State. I value hard work, continuous learning, and making a tangible impact.
Work Experience
*Before this role, I volunteered with JD Tutoring as an accounting tutor. I helped peers and junior students understand accounting principles, financial statements, and basic bookkeeping. That experience built my communication, patience, and leadership skills. It also confirmed how much I enjoy breaking down complex financial concepts into something practical.
Why Bcom Honours in Management Accounting
I chose to study a Bachelor of Commerce in and Management Accounting because I’ve always been drawn to how finance drives decision-making. Growing up, I saw small businesses in my community struggle with cash flow and record-keeping. I wanted the skills to help businesses stay sustainable and make informed choices that create jobs.
Internship
I secured this internship through WG house. They approached me after seeing my profile on Pnet.
Company
I’m now working at United National Breweries as a Finance Intern. The company (United National Breweries) is a leading South African sorghum beer manufacturer. My role involves reporting on the company’s sales volumes, ullages written off, raw materials, and finished goods. It’s been a fantastic learning curve — I’m applying my management accounting knowledge daily and contributing to improving inventory accuracy and cost control. I’m excited to keep growing here.
