About Me
I’m a finance graduate who’s really interested in how the numbers behind a business tell its real story. I’m someone who likes structure and accuracy, but I also enjoy finding small ways to make things work better like automating a spreadsheet so it saves the team time. I’m pretty hands on and I learn fast.

Work Experience
*This internship at Genric is my first real corporate experience. At university I did a lot of group projects and case studies, but here I’ve been in the thick of it. I’ve been handling proof of payment records for both the finance and underwriting teams, helping with broker incentive calculations, working through credit card claim reconciliations, and improving our Excel reports so they’re cleaner and quicker to use.

Why Diploma in Finance/Commerce
I chose finance because I like that it’s practical. Every decision a company makes eventually shows up in the financials, and I wanted to understand that link. Insurance caught my attention because it’s not just about money ,it’s about managing risk and giving people security, which feels more impactful than just chasing profit.

Internship
I found the opportunity through TalentSA and applied online with my CV and transcript. I had an interview where they asked about my Excel skills and why I was interested in financial accounting . I made sure to follow up afterwards because I was genuinely keen, and I think that showed them I was serious.

Company
Genric is a South African short-term insurance company. They work a lot with brokers and underwriting managers to provide cover for individuals and businesses. What I’ve noticed is that it’s a very detail focused environment ,accuracy matters because it affects both compliance and client trust. The team’s been really supportive, and I’ve gotten exposure to both the finance side and how it connects to underwriting.
