Why Degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology
I chose to study Industrial and Organisational Psychology because I have always been interested in understanding people in the workplace and helping organizations create healthy, productive, and supportive work environments. I am passionate about recruitment, employee wellness, career development, and the impact that Human Resources can have on improving people’s lives and workplace experiences. As I continued with my studies, my passion for the field grew even stronger. I became more interested in employee behaviour, organizational development, psychological assessment, and how businesses can create environments where employees can perform at their best. I also developed an interest in how technology and Artificial Intelligence are transforming recruitment and HR practices. This passion and curiosity are the reasons I decided to further my studies all the way to Master’s level in Industrial Psychology. I wanted to deepen my knowledge, strengthen my research skills and position myself to make a meaningful contribution in the HR and psychology field.
Internship
I got my internship opportunity through PNet South Africa, where I applied for the position online. The agent guided me through the recruitment stages, communication and onboarding process until I officially started my internship. The experience taught me the importance of continuously applying for opportunities, staying prepared and remaining patient throughout the recruitment process. It also showed me how important professional networking platforms like PNet can be in connecting graduates and young professionals with career opportunities.
