My name is Thato Thekiso, I am 24-years-old from Orlando East, Soweto. I matriculated at Fons Luminis secondary School in 2010. Between 2014 – 2015 I studied financial Management at Central Johannesburg College TVET.
Work Experience
*During the period of 2011 – 2016 I was working at a local liquor store where mostly my duties included doing stack taking, placing orders, item pricing, customer care and ultimately sales.
Why Financial Management N6
Growing up I was always fascinated by numbers, my father who always said he had no money even on the day he got salary. I wanted to understand why all those years he said he had no money and soon realized he did not know how to manage his finances. Now what a better way to learn how to manage your own finances than studying Finance!
However, I also discovered I have a head for business and financial Management provided me with an opportunity to merge both my interest for numbers with business.
Internship
Like many College Graduates I spent time applying for posts I found online or forwarded to me by friends and family. Unfortunately none of those applications were successful and then a friend of mine we went to College with informed me about how she obtained an internship through the help of GWConnect.
She shared the contact details with me and I got in touch with GWConnect. I filled an online profile with them and in a couple of months they called me for an interview with BIG SAVE RETAILERS. Now I am proud to announce that I am an intern.
Company
I am doing my internship at BIG SAVE RETAILERS. It is relatively small company which steadily expanding. It is based in Pretoria however I am based at one of its subsidiary stores at Johannesburg Market. The people here are fantastic and are more than willing to help when necessary. I can say I have settled in nicely since I started here October 1st and I am enjoying.
