About Me
I am a Gerald Mabasa; I was born and raised in Limpopo in a village called Muchipisi, right outside Malamulele, where I completed both my primary and high school at. I am recent graduate from the University of Pretoria; I studied Bachelor of Commerce in Financial sciences as my undergraduate at the University of Pretoria. I then persuaded a postgraduate degree in Financial Management. I wanted to focus on research to know more about what’s behind the numbers and financial decisions making; I value problem solving, analyzing and troubleshooting the best way forward, hence I went on to do my honors’. With my spare time I enjoy reading about latest financial trend, financial policies and pretty much of significant things of what’s happening in the country and the world as whole. I am currently an intern as a junior Accountant at Wizebooks where I am currently pursuing my career in Finance at.

Work Experience
*Before securing an internship at Wizebooks through Intelleto I was an education assistant for a month (December 2020) at Makhapule primary school in my home village. I was working closely with the principal of the school in many administration duties including a glimpse of financial management of the school. Of course, most of the work I did there wasn’t exactly mostly about finance but grateful for the experience of getting the exposure to management skills.

Why Bachelor of Commerce
The only reason I studied Finance is because of my love and passion for numbers. I love cracking numbers to ensure that I solve a specific numerical problem. The love grown stronger through the course of my academics, where it became more than just numbers. I grew a passion of getting to know more behind numbers in terms of, what does this number came about? And what does it mean? So I became interested in financial decisions and strategy, all those being revolved around numerical values.

Internship
It all started when I finished my undergraduate studies in 2018, kept applying for entry level positions with no luck. Due to not securing any job, I then enrolled for a postgraduate degree in 2019 which I completed same year. I kept applying, and when it seemed as if I was going to finish the 2nd year without any job, I received a call in early December from Intellecto about a finance position at Wizebooks. I was excited and did all that was required in terms of video interview and assessments. I managed to score an interview at Wizebooks and the following week I was called to sign a contract.

Wizebooks is a very young company experiencing a huge growth in recent years. It supplies academic materials like textbooks, stationery and hardware to student of educational institutions across the country.
